Rob Sass is a videographer and photographer based out of Louisville, Kentucky. He makes documentaries, shorts, and branded content. His work is inspired by cinéma vérité, a documentary syle shaped around authentic storytelling.
(Key-are-oh) Chiaro Films gets its name from a painting technique that was birthed during the Renaissance called chiaroscuro. This Italian word means “light-dark” or “clear-obscure”, and was used by famous artists such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. This approach to art found its way into photography and cinematography. It’s a visual style that Rob is drawn to and one of the primary inspirations behind the look of his filmmaking and photography.
“For the enjoyment of the artist the mask must be to some extent moulded on the face. What he makes outside himself must correspond to something inside him; he can only make his effects out of some of the materials of his soul.” - Chesterton

Some of the folks and organizations I’ve had the privilege to work with
“May we steward well what the Creator King has given us, and accept God’s invitation to sanctify our imagination and creativity, even as we labor hard on this side of eternity. May our art, what we make, be multiplied into the New Creation.”
